Scholarship

The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America offers merit-based scholarships to students, need-based scholarships to professionals and event-specific scholarships to PRSSA chapters. Applications for open scholarships are linked below.

Chapter Scholarship
The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America will award up to one $500 scholarship to a PRSSA chapter in the state of Oklahoma for the 2025-2026 school year.

Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on September 30, 2025. Applications received after that date will not be considered. Questions about this scholarship should be directed to [email protected].

Qualifications
To qualify for the scholarship, you must be:

  • A PRSSA chapter in good standing
  • Planning events or activities for your membership that require funding beyond what the current chapter has available.
  • Scholarship selection will be based on a demonstrated need for funding, the benefit that the activity or event will provide to chapter membership and the overall strength of the chapter. Recipients will be notified in October.

PRSA Professional Scholarship
Note: Up to two professional scholarships will be awarded for the 2025-2026 calendar year. Apply now before your PRSA membership lapses!

The Public Relations Society of America’s Oklahoma City Chapter (PRSA-OKC) will award two scholarships to cover a year's worth of PRSA dues (up to a $400 value) to two candidates experiencing financial hardship due to unemployment, illness or their organization’s inability to pay for their involvement with the PRSA National Chapter or the Oklahoma City Chapter. The scholarship does not cover additional professional interest section memberships offered by national PRSA. PR professionals working in Oklahoma are eligible to apply.

Qualifications
To qualify for the scholarship, you must be:

  • Able to demonstrate need or financial hardship
  • A current or past member of PRSA/PRSSA
  • Willing to serve in a volunteer/leadership position with the Oklahoma City PRSA Chapter during the entire 2026 calendar year. If this obligation is not fulfilled, the recipient is responsible for refunding the scholarship to the chapter.

PRSA Student Scholarship
The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America will award up to two merit-based scholarships in the amount of $1,500 to be used during the 2025-2026 academic year. Funds will be disbursed in the Winter 2025 semester.

Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on September 30, 2025. Applications received after that date will not be considered. Questions about this scholarship should be directed to [email protected].

Qualifications
To qualify for the scholarship, you must be:

  • A PRSSA member in good standing
  • Pursuing a degree full-time (enrolled in at least 12 hours) related to public relations, strategic communication, or other communications field
  • A sophomore or junior (or a senior planning to be in school for an additional year) at a four-year Oklahoma college or university

Scholarship selection will be based on aptitude, interest in the public relations field, academic performance and demonstration of community service. The winner will be honored at the PRSA OKC Upper Case Award Banquet and Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City in October 2025.
