Speaker Bios:
Alex Ebanks, Senior Manager of Brand and Business Communications, Coca-Cola

Alex Ebanks is a Senior Manager of Brand & Business Communications in the North America Public Affairs & Communications department at The Coca-Cola Company. In her current role, she leads media relations efforts for the company’s sparkling portfolio of brands in the U.S. including Coca-Cola trademark and Sprite. Prior to joining Coca-Cola, she held a position as a Senior Marketing Manager at Allied MOXY, the multicultural division of Allied Integrated Marketing. In her role at Allied, she strategically managed and created publicity, promotions and marketing campaigns both nationally and regionally, for entertainment-based clients within the television & film industry. As a proud HBCU graduate from Spelman College, she received her bachelor of arts degree in English with a minor in Writing. Alex is chair of the programming subcommittee for the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) National Diversity & Inclusion Committee and a board member of Coca-Cola's African American Business Resource Group and a board member of Women in Film & Television - Atlanta, along with being a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. In 2020, she was selected as a Top Forty under 40 PR professional in Georgia (PRSA Georgia’s Forty Under 40), selected for the upcoming class of LEAD Atlanta and, in 2017 she was named a Top 30 Under 30 HBCU Alumni, on behalf of HBCU Buzz.

Elisabeth Diana, Head of Communications, Instagram

Elisabeth Diana is Head of Communications at Instagram, where she leads a global team focused on media, executive engagement, policy, product, consumer and corporate communications. She and her team surface the ways Instagram brings people closer to each other and the things they love. Prior to Instagram, Elisabeth was VP of Monetization Communications at Facebook, overseeing public relations for the company’s advertiser, small business, and investor audiences. She started her career in PR and advertising, working at advertising agency Publicis & Hal Riney as a brand strategist, and at Google in the global communications and public affairs group. Elisabeth holds an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, and a BA from Stanford University. She lives with her husband and son in Sausalito, California.

Fred Cook, Chairman, Golin
Director, USC Center for Public Relations

Fred Cook has worked at Golin for over 30 years. He started as an account supervisor in the Los Angeles office and moved to Chicago 15 years ago to become Golin’s third CEO. Fred credits the company culture for his long tenure with the firm. 

During his time with Golin, Cook has had the privilege to work with a variety of high-profile CEOs, including Herb Kelleher, Jeff Bezos and Steve Jobs. He has also managed a wide scope of crises for his clients, including airline crashes, product recalls, and sexual harassment.

Fred is proud of the firm’s accomplishments, but he is even more excited about the future. The world is experiencing profound changes in demographics, globalization, multiculturalism and technology which are impacting the way people communicate with each other. To stay ahead of their changes, five years ago, Golin completely redesigned the agency by adopting a proprietary business model called g4, to deliver deeper insights, bigger ideas and broader engagement to their clients. Since that time, Golin has been named ‘Agency of the Year’ more than a dozen times.

In 2014, Cook published “Improvise – Unconventional Career Advice from an Unlikely CEO,” which shares the wisdom he gained as a cabin boy on a Norwegian tanker, doorman at a 5-star hotel and chauffeur for drunks. In 2015, after speaking on college campuses around the world, Fred accepted an additional position with the University of Southern California as the Director of the USC Center for Public Relations at the Annenberg School whose mission is to shape the future of public relations and those who will lead it - through research, education and thought leadership.
