Join PRSA-OKC in helping our future PR professionals by participating in the 2017 PRSA OKC Career Day sponsored by Lindsey + Asp, a premiere student-run ad agency at the University of Oklahoma.

Career Day is an annual event hosted by PRSA-OKC and is open to all college students in public relations and related fields. During Career Day, students are paired with PR professionals at their workplaces. Students gain valuable career advice, and professionals can network with the future leaders of the communications profession. 

Following the learning experience, everyone is invited to attend the luncheon at the UCO Boathouse, featuring Robert “Pritch” Pritchard, APR, PRSA Fellow and Instructor & Faculty Adviser, Lindsey+Asp along with a panel of distinguished guests, who will guide seasoned pros and students through the art of the interview and stress the importance of mentoring.

Schedule of events

9-11 a.m. – Students meet with assigned communications professionals at their place of business.

Keynote Address: "The Mentoring Puzzle: Finding the Connections that Fit"

Bob “Pritch” Pritchard, APR, PRSA Fellow will walk students and pros through the differences between a mentor, a coach and a sponsor, how you find a mentor, requirements of an effective mentor, building relationships and more.

Panel Discussion: “The Art of the Interview”

Distinguished panelists from all walks of PR to HR will guide students and PR pros though what companies are looking for in their ideal candidate, how you can navigate your way through the interview process (your pitch, what you can bring to the table, etc.) and those tricky questions that could hang you up in the interview process.

Meet Our Panelists:

 Bob “Pritch” Pritchard, APR, Fellow PRSA Fellow and Instructor & Faculty Adviser, Lindsey+Asp

Bob “Pritch” Pritchard, APR, Fellow PRSA has a highly decorated career of more than 40 years of experience in public relations, “big picture” communications thinking and executive mentoring.

A member of the public relations faculty in the Gaylord College at the University of Oklahoma, Pritch has more than 25 years of experience as a public affairs officer in the U.S. Navy and more than 15 years experience as a public relations educator.

In recognition of his contributions as a role model and the advancement of the public relations profession, he was inducted into the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) College of Fellows in 2004, a distinction shared by fewer than two percent of the 20,000 members.

At the local level Pritch has served as professional development and ethics chair for the Hoosier PRSA Chapter and as accreditation chair for the OKC PRSA Chapter.

Pritch has been a Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Faculty Adviser for more than 15 years. He currently serves in that capacity for the Stewart Harral PRSSA Chapter in the Gaylord College at the University of Oklahoma and as Faculty Adviser for Lindsey + Asp, the nationally-affiliated student-operated advertising, public relations and digital agency in the Gaylord College.

 Jennifer Anderson, Vice President of Marketing and Communications Express Employment Professionals International Headquarters

With more than 30 years of experience in the employment and staffing industry, Anderson is Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Express Employment Professionals International Headquarters. In this role, Anderson is responsible for positioning Express as an industry leader in the staffing and employment industry, establishing brand recognition, and providing marketing, communications, and event support to Express franchisees.

Since 2013, franchisee satisfaction with marketing and communications support has increased from 77% to 91% satisfaction. Anderson was also president and founding owner of ASE Productions, Inc., a full-service conference and event planning company.

Anderson’s speaking engagements include the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, Oklahoma’s NextGen Under 30, Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, Express International Leadership Conference, Meeting Professionals International, Association for Women in Communications, Public Relations Society of America, and American Marketing Association, among others.

 Danielle Ezell, former Executive Director Oklahoma Women’s Coalition

Danielle Ezell is currently a candidate for Senate District 40 and works as a senior business consultant with the Mettise Group. Prior to joining Mettise, she served as the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Women’s Coalition, a nonprofit working to improve the status of women in Oklahoma through education and advocacy. From 2007 to 2015 she held several leadership positions with the Teleflora including Vice President of Administration and was responsible for human resources in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. She worked closely with senior executives throughout the organization on leadership development, succession planning, compensation strategies and much more. In addition, she helped develop a senior leadership training program hosted by Teleflora's parent company, the Wonderful Companies. In 2015, she was certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), the senior-most human resources certification for those who have also demonstrated a strategic mastery of the HR body of knowledge.

Prior to joining Teleflora, Ezell owned 20 Hats, an award-winning marketing and public relations firm. She also held marketing positions with other Oklahoma City-based companies including a la mode, Guernsey and Candid Color Systems early in her career.

During her career, she has been recognized many times as a community leader and volunteer. She currently serves on the board of Junior Achievement of Oklahoma City; is a board member and financial committee member for the Central Workforce Investment Board; and recently joined the board of the Women's Research Center and BGLTQ+ Student Center at UCO. She is also a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City, a program working to develop community leaders and volunteers. She also a past President of PRSA Oklahoma City.

 Erika Huffman, Vice President Schnake Turnbo Frank

Erika Huffman joined the firm in the fall of 2011 with a wealth of knowledge on a wide range of businesses. Prior to joining STF, Erika served as Director of Public Relations and Marketing for a professional theatre company and later worked as Communications Director for a local medical group. Erika and her husband also own a custom construction company in Oklahoma City.

 In her six years at STF, Erika has worked with more than 55 clients from a variety of industries including energy, education, manufacturing, entertainment, law, hospitality, the arts, sports, agriculture, health care, social services and government.

Erika specializes in message development, community relations, event promotion and earned media strategy. But no matter what hat she’s wearing, Erika is dedicated to organization, detail, and efficiency.
